Caring Quilters of Lambton Shores, meet every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Port Franks Community Centre. Dues are $1.00 if you attend. Be sure to bring a lunch. Coffee and tea are supplied. This is a non-profit organization that came in to existence on February 2nd, 2000, and was founded by Marilyn McCordic. This group was formed for one purpose only, to assist people in crisis. A secondary purpose has evolved through new friendships and good fellowship. We all learn from one another and share talents. All quilts go to Victims Services of Sarnia Lambton who distribute them on a needs basis. TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at the Arkona Municipal Building. Weigh in at 6:00pm and meeting at 7:00pm. A support group for those wishing to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.
Grand Bend Social Film Group is a new organization that will meet the first Thursday of each month, with the exception of May through August. The group will meet at the Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre in the Community Room (upstairs media room) from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Films will be of a general interest to adults, and a time for discussion will follow each showing for those interested. Admission is free with any donations returned to the community at the end of the season. Films purchased will be given to the local library. Anyone interested in volunteering with setup, film selection or money management should contact Dinah Taylor at 519-238-1114 or by email.
